Kathy Kudler is the owner of Kudler foods, a local gourmet specialty shop. The store has three locations in the San Diego metro area Jolla, Del Mar and Encinitas. The stores specialize in fresh bakery and meat goods, cheeses and dairy products. The owner Kathy Kudler hired managers and assistant managers for the daily operations of the stores. Kathy Kudler does all of the major administrative duties such as hiring, firing, inventory. KFF has a loyal customer base and is rapidly expanding with three locations throughout California since 1998. KFF is a store for a particular type of customer, who loves to prepare fresh gourmet meals. This customer is the savvy shoppers searching for the finest meats, produce, cheese, and wines (University of Phoenix [UOP], 2010).
Situations
Like any business that is looking to expand, KFF has some situations that need resolutions because they are costly to the company. Kathy Kudler is dedicated to her brand and quality of food, she has hired specialist for each department throughout the franchise that has created higher payroll. The pay rate for the specialists is not competitive, so Kathy allows the workers to take home the perishable items still in good condition to compensate for the lack of pay. Kathy Kudlers ordering process presents additional issues. She saves money by ordering in bulk for the three stores, but the process is very timely. The genuine touch of the stores is the personal interaction with her customers who consistently patronize her business. The price of food has increased over the years. The majority of KFF inventory is perishable goods, items are rotated out every 1-3 days, which creates higher food cost.
