The Department of Water and Power ITS division has it own data management section.
It is called the ITS Data Management Group. Its goals and vision are to manage the
Department’s assets, establish data policy/standards, establish the enterprise data
architecture, and provide data base administration support Enterprise/Distributed
Systems. The Data management Group provides information on the ITSWEB site as a
single communication access to standardize the DWP database environment.
The Data Management Web site provides access to the following services:
Enterprise Software Distribution- This section describes Oracle software distribution
policy, methods and all available Oracle software versions.
Enterprise Metadata Repository-Describes DIP(Oracle directory integration platform)
database information from Oracle, DB2, and IMS databases and their objects if they are
available to ITS. It is the first step in building a high quality inventory system for the
Department’s information assets.

DWP also has a substantial application infrastructure based upon Oracle technology.
The corporate website, Siebel as well as many other enterprise applications utilize Oracle
Technology. The corporate website currently stores the user ids and passwords and one of
two roles in the underlying Oracle database tables for authentication. The Corporate
Intranet site home page is ITSWeb2. From there you can navigate to the different
departments and sections that have web pages. You can also access other departments
outside of the department, including the City of Los Angeles web site.
