What are some crucial social and political incidents that you have experienced in your life?
The recent health care reform has completely turned the corporate world upside down.
The government is going into this with a blindfold. They should be talking to the people of this country and not the Pharmaceutical vendors, or the insurance companies, or each other for that matter. There are going to be so many changes in the upcoming years to the nation's health care system. While I agree that the US needed some type of health care reform, this one is just not the answer. I could go on and on about this subject, I will not. Not everyone agrees with me, and I know this, that is why we are a free country. Free to believe in what we choose, and not all that we are told.
How have these incidents affected you, and what have you learned from those experiences?
These recent and upcoming changes are what inspired me to finish my degree. The field of Human Resources will grow because of the heath care reform, and large corporations will need knowledgeable individuals to work in their Human Resources department. It is good job security for me, but eventually I would like to be a consultant to companies, and assist getting the Human Resources Department off the ground. I also hope that these changes within the US will make leaders of corporations take Human Resources more seriously. I started in Human Resources 11 years ago, and at that time we were considered more an administrative employee. But with all the recent changes, much knowledge will be needed to stay abreast of new laws, and the ever changing government. I hope that people will see Human Resources as more of a strategic partner, or an advisor, and they will stop considering us administrative.
