Lice Paper

Many people have watched the famous Alice in Wonderland movies produced by Disney.   But most people just view the movies as cute and fun. Very few take the time to look closely at the story to analyze the many different interpretations that Lewis Carroll had intended for them to see. The characters and the situations both have descriptive meanings.   Lewis Carroll obviously thought long and hard about his characters: how they should act, think, and be.   He obviously knew that his characters could represent many parts of society.   They symbolize parts of society in different ways for everyone’s life.   The Caterpillar represents an adult, the Mad Hatter represents media and how it rapidly changes and gets crazy, and the Dormouse represents how friendship can be.
In the book, the Caterpillar continuously asks the same questions and repeats himself. For example, “ Come back… I’ve something important to say!” This shows that he is like an adult.   Because he wants to give Alice advice, but has the theory, “ Do as I say, not as I do.”   Which is nothing compared to the Mad Hatter, he is giving the impression he is always right and to copy everything he does and not what he says.

The Mad Hatter shows what crazy things the media does when it’s in the spotlight. Saying things like, “ Does your watch tell you what year it is? … Which is just the case with mine.”   This proves that the Hatter shows how the media world is constantly changing. The media does many crazy things, which most people just don’t understand, people still attempt to copy them anyway. Like the characters of Tom Sawyer the characters are ambitious. Huck and Tom often do things that people see as crazy and yet everyone wants to copy them and easily stand out. Where as the always-stuffed Dormouse is easily overlooked.
