Longer Snack Break

Eighth graders need a longer snack break.   When students are hungry they cannot concentrate in class and they miss out on learning.   Students at this age need time to socialize with their peers.   With only nine minutes for this breath there is not enough time for students to do what they need to do.   A longer snack break is needed, and it would be better for students.

    During class time if students are hungry the last thing they are concentrating on is what the teacher is saying.   Their stomach is growling and it becomes a distraction to them and others around them.   Some students do not have enough time to eat breakfast and become hungry and distracted throughout the day.   If students can’t concentrate on the teacher then they obviously can’t learn anything and that is why students are at school.   It is horrible to be hungry while at school because students aren’t concentrating on learning.

    With a longer snack break students would also have more time to socialize which is a big part of being a teenager.   If there was a longer snack break kids would have time to get it all out of their system.   If students talked more at snack break they wouldn’t have any talk left in them for class.   With a longer snack break there would also be more time for students to bond with each other.   This would mean that there would be less fighting and the school would be a much friendlier place.   Socializing is definitely necessary for getting a longer snack break, but more importantly students need more time to get to class.

    Students have too many things to do and not enough time to do them.   Kids have to go to the snack machines and there are very long lines at them.   Long lines at machines mean you could be tardy for your next class.   When students are tardy and walk into class the snack will probably be thrown away and you could get a detention all because snack break isn’t long enough.   Students also need more time to work with teachers because they don’t...
