Lord of the Flies Literary Analysis

Humans are innately corrupt, and we must have an anchored set of guidelines that we can abide to. A society with no rules and no order will only lead to absolute chaos. We are born into a world that already has structured civilizations that have been previously determined by our leaders. It has been hundreds of years since mankind was living in a time where morals were nonexistent and brutality was socially acceptable and needed to survive. But, what if we were suddenly thrown from the comfort of our   social well-being and cast into a world where the only rules that we had to follow were our own? Our beast-like nature, in this situation, could quite possibly rebirth itself into its natural array of devastating terror.
In the Lord of the Flies, the boys were brought up in prestige English homes and had morals driven into them by their parents.   They knew right from wrong, yet when stranded on an island of complete isolation, they resorted to utter savageness. Although they attempted to reestablish the structure from their prior way of life, the instincts and anarchical demands of the majority of the boys overruled it. All previous knowledge of how to act like a mature and civilized human being was stripped away from them and was replaced with the most primitive part of our nature. It is called survival instincts. As soon as we feel that our structured life is falling apart into something that we are required to take total responsibility and control of, our survival instincts start to come out and we turn ugly and savage.
It is apparent that mankind can not coincide harmoniously without a system of rules. Whether they are laws or just an unwritten code of society, humans must have guidelines to keep our survival instincts from becoming to evident.
