Love Story

2007:
It was a clear sunny morning in Andalucía, Spain.   Santiago was going to go visit his friend Sapphire. Everyone thought it was weird for them to best friends since they were kids and not have had a relationship. In reality they are in a relationship, one that nobody knows about because of her family. He has always loved Sapphire and she has always felt the same about him. Her family has never comprehended what she saw in him. What they didn’t know thought was that they have shared the same passions since they were kids. They both have shared the passion of writing and modern art. Sapphire has always been inspired by her dad, who is a famous writer, Paulo Coelho.   Santiago was the opposite of her. He wanted to be a writer because he loved the art of it, and because he wanted to the first of his family to succeed.   He also would to travel to Egypt tomorrow. He really didn’t want to tell Sapphire that. She didn’t like it when people left her.   “What are your favorite fables?” Santiago asked her when they were seated in their usual place by the sea.
Sapphire thought about it for a while and then responded, “‘The Story of Narcissus’ and ‘The Story of echo’” After she said those she looked pensive. I can’t believe I told him that, she thought to herself.   She decided it was best to distract him before he could ask why. “Do you know what the word alchemy means? I mean like I know it’s something that people named alchemists study, but what exactly is it?”
“I have no idea jaja.” He responded. “Why the curiosity?” She thought about it and then just spoke freely. “Well my dad is starting a new book and he said it was going to be called “: The Alchemist” and I was curious of what that meant.”   He just looked into her eyes and found the truth in her words. Well might as well be truthful to her, he thought. “Can I tell you something?” he said suddenly.
