Mac Vs PC: How would you decide?
Apple has been painting a picture for a few years with their clever advertisements. They say that there are two types of people, Mac people and PC people. The hipster that owns the Mac seems to use their machine for video chats, mixtapes, recording their underground band, and editing their soon to be youtube hit films. PC on the other hand is the business orientated, Excel spreadsheet making, and project managing with force on his PC. Turns out however, that both stereotypes are just wrong. The insides of both computers are amazingly similar.
When deciding between the Mac and PC, you have to make you own personal list of exactly what you want from your computer. In the office world, we tend to use the Windows based PC machines. The office has the hopes of fulfilling office-based functions with Word, Outlook, and Excel. The office IT Admin is typically more involved with PCs and know how windows based functions work over the Unix based Mac operating systems.
Typically when you walk into a studio, of any sort, you are likely to see Macs lined up in a row. Lots of studios or Media centers use Macs in hopes to fulfill the film and photo editing, desktop publishing and recording of music. However, this doesn’t usually mean that Macs can’t get the same office jobs done, that a PC can, and the other way around.
I feel like the two machines are really just a matter of personal preference. The guts of both machines are very much the same. They both use the same intel processors, and graphic cards. Apple does a great job focusing on making their system user friendly and easier to use. However a big disadvantage of a Mac (for some people anyway,) is the inability for a gamer to play the PC games he or she enjoys on the Mac interface.
