Humans are highly specialized organisms. Unlike other living things, humans have intellect and will which belong to the spiritual part (soul). This is by well known philosophers such as Aristotole and Thomas Aquinas. Humans use their intellect to think and carry out complex mental activities. They use their will to carry out actions voluntarily and so are responsible for their actions. These two (intellect and will) make a human special because they influence how they live t organism since their lives, since life itself cannot be seen, there are certain characteristics that suggest something is alive and has a life. Some of these characteristics include:
1. EXCRETION
Excretion is the biological process through which waste products are expelled from an organism. Excretion is vital for the survival of an organism since excessive accumulation of waste materials in the cells such as carbon dioxide can be toxic (poisonous) and can lead to death.
In single-celled organisms, waste products are discharged directly through the surface of the cell. Multi-cellular organisms utilize more complex excretory methods. Higher plants eliminate gasses through the stomata or pores on the surface of leaves. Humans have special excretory organs.
Excretion in humans
The human excretory system is a passive biological system that removes excess, unnecessary or dangerous materials from an organism so as to prevent damage to the body. It is responsible for elimination of waste products of metabolism as well other liquids and gaseous wastes. As most healthy functioning organs produce metabolic and other wastes, the entire organism depends on the function of the system, however, only the organs specifically for the excretion process are considered a part of the excretory system. As it involves several functions that are only superficially related, it not usually used in more formal classification of anatomy or function.
