Managed Care

Managed Care
Managed care is one of the options a person could have for insurance. It is mainly a result of cost cutting efforts. There are many pros and cons to having managed care. The good thing about having Managed care is that you pay a set fee and in return you have all your medical services. Managed Care insurance helps as many people as possible have some sort of insurance. A pro of managed care insurance is that they are not wasting money. Managed care doctors are not going to give you the run around with all sorts of test and labs. They are going to simply make smart decisions to get you better as soon as possible. Managed care doctors use their resources very wisely.
From a caregivers perspective there are many pros and cons of managed care. In managed care a company will lose lots of money in my opinion. A patient will pay a flat fee and then they are able to receive all the medical help they need. A person may pay a fee of 500 dollars but may rack up 50,000 dollars in medical expenses. When this happens the company is losing money.   Losing money is an extreme con when it comes to managed care. A pro of managed care will be all the people whom sign up. The company will gain money from people signing up for their services since it is a lot cheaper than other insurance plans. Many people will leave their previous provider just because they are unable to keep constantly paying the deductible. From a consumers perspective a pro to managed care is that it is a lot cheaper and care will not be denied. A con to managed care would be that you have no say so about your health plan. The doctor will do as he feels necessary and you have no choice but follow.
From the perspective of a caregiver I would prefer traditional insurance. I like people having the choice of choosing any doctor they want. It would make me feel better knowing that people are using my practice because I am good rather than them being assigned to me.
