      “What you smoke weed, are you serious? Do you know what that stuff does to you?” This is a common phase that is brought up in conversations all the time. The question of legalizing marijuana has been a topic that has been thrown around by politicians for years, but has never been up for an honest debate. The question though is why has it never been debated honestly like all big topics, like for example abortion. Abortions has been debated honestly and end the end it has left up to a personal decision whether to do it or not, so why not leave the use of marijuana as a personal choice? If marijuana were to be legalized it would leave the choice strictly up to the people whether they would want to partake in it or not. Yes marijuana has many uses, but by honestly debating the legalization of it there may be other uses for marijuana presented at the table.
    When marijuana has ever been put in front a person to be debated one of the first arguments that you hear is what marijuana is used for.   It is said that marijuana is seen as a gateway drug but there are no studies to prove that marijuana use honestly leads to the use of hard drugs. “Thus, the strong relative risk, ordering and dose-response relationships observed between marijuana use and hard drug initiation do not require the assumption that marijuana initiation, or even the first opportunity to use it, increases the risk of either hard drug initiation or the opportunity to use hard drugs” (The Evidence for a Gateway Effect).   There are no studies that can prove that marijuana can lead to diseases, lung cancer or anything.   People use marijuana for personal reasons, so why not leave it at that. There has been no evidence that marijuana has even killed someone from an over dose. So why not debate marijuana honestly and put all the facts on the table? There are many good uses that can come from the legalization of marijuana....
