Throughout one’s life, experimentation is often the catalyst fact in developing new both habits – both good and bad. Good habits are those set at an early age, usually in accordance to the direction of one’s parental figures. Such habits include saying “thank you” after receiving a gift, brushing one’s teeth before sleeping, and addressing someone with a “hell” upon each new meeting. However, as a child develops into a young adult, they are faced with new challenges and tasks that require the daring f new experimentation.   One of the most prevalent items that undergo experimentation at such an early age range is the use of the narcotic marijuana. Although the use of marijuana is illegal and prohibited in the United States, its use is perpetuated in America’s youth. The relaxing and euphoric effects of the drug are extremely appealing to such a young a young generation that only seeks the “better things in life”. Despite the weakening argument that marijuana is a dangerous narcotic that will only corrupt law-abiding citizens, the drug is quite harmless and should be declared as such by undergoing legalization in the United States.
Advocates of preventing the legalization of marijuana have listed severable arguable grounds against the legal distribution of this drug. One such group is the Regional Drug Initiative (RDI) Task Force set up by the US Department of Labor. In their opposition, the RDI has identified marijuana as a means to threatening health problems, increased financial instability, and an overall disruption to the well being of society. The RDI states that “Legalization would…produce both greater availability of drugs throughout the general population and an increased access to drugs by the general population.
