What are the attributes of having a youth program at the Home Depot?   The first attribute is increased employee loyalty and a reduced percentage of employee turnover rates, which is one of the major benefits a company or an organization, can look at when seeking to add childcare as one of its perks. Having this advantage allows for a return on employee investment in the company and a savings to the company in upwards of $ 40,000 a year or an average of one and one-half times a person’s salary once a person is trained and retained in the company.
Another attribute to having an onsite daycare is the employee retention incentive and affects employee recruitment by approximately 42% according to companies surveyed. Employees interviewed by the same company stated that having an onsite childcare facility made the company more favorable for them to work for (globalreview.com). According to USA today, studies have shown that 84% of parents worry less about their children's safety and well-being with work-site child care services.   More studies show that on the increase of more companies using work-site child care, results in higher productivity and job satisfaction. Increase pool of potential employees is also a benefit to having onsite childcare.
Problems with childcare at   Home Depot can adversely affect the job performance of working parents by increasing absenteeism, tardiness, turnover rates, and recruiting and training costs. These, in turn, can adversely affect productivity and work quality and ultimately the competitiveness of Home Depot.
