Mean Girls Essay
The story Othello and the movie Mean Girls are very similar in many aspects.   Granted, they also have a very large amount of differences.   Othello was written by Shakespeare, a poet of very high caliber of the 16th and 17th Centuries.     While Mean Girls is a 21st Century movie that stars Lindsay Lohan, and includes Tina Fey and Amy Poehler who have worked together on the set of SNL, another notable actor is Neil Flynn who is the janitor in Scrubs.   The stage of these two works could not be any different.   One in a High School, somewhere in America, the other in Venice, Italy and Cyprus.  
However the plot are strikingly similar.   In each there are characters that strive to take down the best known character.   In Othello it is Iago, who uses sheer cunning, and his ability to coerce people to do things for him.   Meanwhile in Mean Girls Cady (Lindsay Lohan) uses subtle tactics that allow her to distract the true nature of what she was planning on doing.   Cady and Iago are very much alike.
Some people believe that Iago is more like Regina George because of her evil ways.   But that is not true.   They are both obsessed with power, but that is the only thing in common that they have.   Cady is very much like Iago.   She is very smart and uses that to her advantage.   She also uses her beauty to quickly gain entrance to the plastics.   She is seen as different, which also allows Regina to trust her.   She makes Regina believe that Cady will never turn on her, because she cannot fit in with anyone else.   She shows extreme loyalty to all of them.
Cady also uses her friends that she met at the beginning of the year.   She met Janis and Damian, who help her to plan in taking down Regina, because in 8th grade Regina spread a rumor about Janis’ sexuality.   Cady ends up betraying her friends just as Iago does to Roderigo.
