Abstract
There are several mobile devices being sold through various phone carriers worldwide. Also, these phone carriers offer a few basic security measures that may or may not be adequate for corporate networks, small businesses, etc. As the market for mobile devices continue to grow, more people will be carrying sensitive data on these devices. The question then becomes, “How safe is the data you store on your handheld device?†You can bet that hackers, internet scams are huge threats for all of us 24 x 7. This creates a struggle for IT Security Personnel for most businesses. Ultimately, I believe that mobile device security management deserves more attention.
Mobile Device Security Management
During the last few years, we have seen an explosion of mobile devices. These technologies include PDAs, handheld communicators, iPods, and a host of multi-functional devices that combine two or more functions into one device. For instance, you can get all of these components installed on one device to include an operating system, camera, music, and a host of 3rd party applications that provide viewing pdf, office files, etc. Keep in mind that cameras are not allowed onsite for some government sponsored companies, schools, and medical facilities. In this paper, I plan to discuss a few top security technologies based on this article. Then finally give a conclusion on my findings vs. the article.
There are several tips, reviews, and best practices for businesses to pursue when dealing with security management for mobile devices. I will focus on the top five security technologies that are important based on a recent ESG Research survey.
