Mormonism Comparison to Catholicism

Catholicism and Mormonism are two different forms of Christianity but still hold two completely different views on God and life. While Catholicism studies only the Bible, Mormons study The Book of Mormon and the Bible. Mormonism is a form of Christian primitivism that shares a common set of beliefs with the rest of the Latter Day Saint Movement. The Latter Day Saint movement is a group of restorationist Christian denominations and adherents who follow at least some of the teachings of Joseph Smith. All originating in the 1820’s, in western New York, the religion continues to grow at a fast pace.
I grew up attending a Catholic school and attended mass twice a week and felt a little pushed into the religion to be quite honest. The more I didn’t like the school and the older I got, the more I continued to ponder why I believe in the Catholic religion. Throughout the semester, I have learned if I am and would be anything I would be Zen Buddhist because they are uncertain about a god as well but have an excellent way of life. All being said, I know exactly how the Catholic mass is conducted and all of the teachings to compare to Mormonism.
The church I chose to go to is located in Liberty, Missouri and called “The Church of Jesus Christ of LDS”. I arrived early because I didn’t know what to expect and sure didn’t want to be late. When I first walked in, there was open seating and the Bishop started out the service by welcoming everyone and giving announcements. I wore what I would wear to a Catholic mass, which consists of slacks and a button up shirt, which seemed to fit right in along with everyone else. The congregation then sang a hymn located in the books on the backs of the pews. Next, a prayer was read while everyone stayed seated and bowed their heads, and closed their eyes.
