A Walk to Remember
Avoiding peer pressure, getting good grades, and finding the right college is enough pressure to drive some teenagers insane.   Imagine adding leukemia on top of everything.   That’s what Jamie Sullivan has to deal with everyday.   It takes many different aspects to make a great movie: themes, characters, technical aspects, etc. However, the most important has to be the story and the message behind it.
        Born in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1966, Nicholas Sparks moved around for years with his family, due to his father being a college student. As Nicholas grew older, he had no intentions of being a great writer. As high school started, Sparks’s brain kicked into overdrive; as a result, he didn’t receive a grade lower than an “A” all through his high school career. He was valedictorian of his high school class but wasn’t able to give the commencement because he was due to compete in the state track meet.   He broke numerous school and meet records and was picked up by the University of Notre Dame (Sparks).
During Sparks’s freshman year in college, he competed on the track team. After breaking the record for the 4x800 relay race, he spent the summer icing his damaged Achilles tendon.   After moping for three months, Sparks’s mother suggested he write a novel -- and he did (Sparks).
The Passing was not published but instead stowed away in a safe place -- Sparks’s attic. It took three tries before he hit the big times. The novel that brought Nicholas Sparks into the lime light of fame was called The Notebook. Other well-known novels include Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember, and Nights in Rodanthe (Sparks).
        A Walk to Remember is a story featuring Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan. Both characters have more depth than just made up characters. Jamie is based on Sparks’s younger sister, and Landon is based on her husband. Sparks’s sister was diagnosed with cancer and Jamie was as well. A Walk to Remember was...
