The following is the reason I decided to pursue an MBA. After working for several companies and experienced a few tasks in the human resources department, I made a decision that I wanted to know more about human resource management. I continued to work as an Administrative Assistant, but the spark was still inside me.   I started looking for jobs in the human resource field, but most of the jobs I was interested in required a degree in human resource management.
To support my argument on pursuing an MBA, I’ll use my score of the What’s My Jungian 16-Type Personality? assessment. According to the score, people with INFJ are introvert, intuitive, into feeling, and judging. Another way to describe people with an INFJ personality is reflective, introspective, creative, and contemplative with a possible career as a Human Resource Manager. I’m not sure how others perceive my personality, but in my opinion I am introverted, intuitive, and more of a feeling person.
Some people think that individuals with an MBA degree perform better in managerial positions than those without an MBA degree (Baruch & Peiperl, 2000). In my opinion, having an MBA degree gives the job hunter the extra tools needed to do a better job in management. It also gives the individual the knowledge that sometimes not even years of experience will give him. Do not get me wrong, years of experience will make any person more knowledgeable, but with an MBA the individual will get the knowledge more rapidly.
Others think that getting an MBA is useless. According to Pfeffer and Fong the master’s degrees in business administration have no relevance in the business world and have little-to-no impact on salaries (Letsche, 2002). Well, I believe that in this market, the more education a job hunter has the more marketable he or she becomes.
