My Jail tour

My Jail tour took place on Thursday may 1st of 2008 at the Century Regional Detention Facility of Lynwood at 8:45am.   I was very exited and nervous about the tour.   I did not know what I was going to see and experience.   I had no idea.   When I think of a jail I think I am going to see what you normally see in movies.   Something like a dirty, smelly place with dark and shady characters walking around.   Not a very pleasant thought.   Well the day finally came.   There where four of us waiting in the front area.   After about twenty minutes both officer’s Jackson and Rodarte came out.   They asked us to sign some waivers before we began the tour.   After that the first thing we had to do was trade in our I.D.’s for some passes.   The first stop was the booking area.   They showed us the little rooms where they keep them and they can make collect calls from. I believe he said eight foot by nine was the size of each cell.   Then we visited the west side.   On the west side the inmates have more self control.   We where able to visit while all the inmates are out of their cells walking around.   Some would watch television and they also had a vending machine to buy snacks.   On this side it was a little nicer.   They had porcelain sinks and...
