Descriptive writing
It was random chance that we found it. Tucked away in a large clump of trees right outside of the forest. We happened upon it when looking for my dog, which we had let off her leash and had subsequently ran off after some deer. When we first peered in we almost turned around and left just as fast as we had happened upon it. It looked like nothing special, a dense growing of underbrush and some tightly packed saplings, and only when it began to rain did we fully crawl into it for cover. The next few days of that summer were spent with us trading off with an axe and hatchet, clearing the underbrush and some of the small trees. After two days, we had a full “room” created, clear and big with a large tree in the middle covering the top of the clearing.
Now that it is completed, all we have to do is sit and admire. During the afternoon, the sun streams through the northwest wall between the branches and illuminates the dirt floor and makes for a moment a miniscule bug visible against the yellow light. Down the hall, in the “sun room” where there are no tree branches covering the middle, you can sit in a tree top and watch the sun shine down on Mt. Finlayson and Cattle Pass.
Plentiful amounts of hours have been spent sitting in the main room, silently, and laughing at times at jokes told over a small campfire. If you are careful, you can climb up one of the trees at night when the moon is bright and the stars are even brighter and lean back in the embrace of the trees boughs and stare until your eyes water from forgetting to blink. Your legs grow weary from the constant and sporadic tensing of muscles while you try to keep your balance as well as your mind from the constant stream of complex and mind blowing thoughts bombarding your mind from the conversation had with a fellow star gazer.
In the spring and early weeks of the summer sleeping there will deprive you of sleep because of the frogs in the nearby swamp restlessly...
