I’m choosing to write about a place that my family and I go on every year for vacation it is a island in northern Minnesota on Lake of the Woods bordering the crest of the Canadian waters. It is an island so you can get there by boat or plane that is what makes it so special. I’m choosing to write about Oak Island because it is one of my favorite places to go on vacation with my family because of how exclusive and private the experience is while you are there.
Oak Island is a place my family has going to for years it was my first real vacation as a child with my family. It was always tradition to go up to Oak Island resort every year and not one year yet have we missed our family vacation. What makes Oak Island resort so special is the atmosphere and the mentality of the island, it’s a feeling you cant get from any other vacation spot.
The island is about two to three miles in length and no more than one mile in width at most and the landscape of the island is really something to appreciate. In some places on the island it is flat but in others there are sweeping hills and jagged shore lines followed by vertical jagged cliff drop offs its to exquisite to put into words. One minute your walking the island the next your sitting the dock watching the sun set as it illuminates the water with a beautiful bright orange color making it irresistible not to watch.
One of the main reasons people chose Oak Island Resort to go on their vacation is because its vast majority of popular fishing spots on Lake of the Woods. Oak Island like I said before borders the Canadian waters making it easy to boat in to Canada and find that one spot that you hope nobody else knows about. My family has a secret fishing spot on Lake of the Woods it is called Lavarende we boat there from Oak Island its about a twenty minute boat ride from the island.
