Obesity and the Media

Over the years, America and obesity gradually became more and more familiar with each other. Advertisement plays a huge roll in that area. Advertising equals more products being bought which equals cash; and cash is the most important thing to most people. People would rather be fat and rich then be skinny and healthy, or is that the secret message that the media sending through?
The media influences what people want, you don’t have to admit it; it’s just the cold hard truth. It doesn’t make sense that Paris Hilton is one of the icons for Burger King, yet it’s known that if your body doesn’t look like hers, then you’re fat.   Burger king suggests that we’ll save money if we super size everything we purchase there, even if it is five thousand calories. How can you manage to eat five thousand calorie meals and a still have a healthy body? And it’s completely healthy for the salad to have more calories then a burger, because that makes complete sense. The day you can eat Burger King and not have to work out anymore, is the day that pigs fly.
Gatorade is also very, very bad for you also. People drink it when they exercise but you really shouldn’t unless you’re burning all of your calories. Gatorade has 120 calories, so after you work out and you have that Gatorade, it’s like you didn’t work out at all. What’s the point of drinking a ‘healthy’ drink if it doesn’t help you in any way? With the technology we have today, the media can get into anybody’s head. Such as those Gatorade commercials where the actors that are sweating out the Gatorade while working out; that suggests to drink Gatorade while working out, but Gatorade is only good for you when you work out for at least five hours, and who’s going to do that? Awhile ago I actually saw an ad saying that if you don’t eat this certain candy, then you are not cool enough and cant be in this certain candy club. It makes me disgusted with the media today.
