There is a waterfall called Amicalola Falls twenty minutes away from my house. Usually on a free day, I would go out to the mall or the movies with my friends and hang out, but today I decided to visit this waterfall. I drove to the site and I had to walk up around 800 steps before reaching the top of the waterfall. As I was walking up, it felt so peaceful and serene, listening to the water fall down. The sound of the rushing water make me feel fresh and rejuvenated. Usually I would have been tired walking up, but the water energized me and the walk was not too exhausting at all. It felt like the best way to spend the day. I felt relaxed and calm, and as if there was nothing else in the world to worry about.
When I reached the top and looked down, the sight before my eyes was absolutely stunning, it was so beautiful. The color of the water was solid white, and it looked absolutely perfect and flawless. The sight of the water falling looked heavy, and yet light at the same time. It might sound corny, but it reminded me of little angels coming down from heaven. I wanted to slide down with the water because it looked so smooth and amazing. The rocks which the water laid on was dark brown and strong, and matched the surroundings well. The leaves of the trees on the sides of the waterfall were turning into gorgeous brown, red, and orange colors. The sky was clear light blue, and the air felt breezy and cool.
The entertainment I got today from nature was one of the best experiences of my life. I even understood where Thoreau was coming from. We don’t need Hollywood or the media to be amused or interested. Just go walk in the backyard and look at the trees, the dirt, the animals, the insects, etc. Just listen to the sound of nature. If you really look into it, you’ll notice even the smallest things, things that seem insignificant at first but are really not. Nature is so essential in our lives, and it really clears our minds and makes us think, reflect, and imagine.
