Organizational Studies
    Organizational psychology is what? Is it how one organizes their day to day activities? Or, is it how one handles the company they work for? Organizations have been using this to motivate their personal throughout history. Now we need to define organizational psychology how the role of research and statistics apply and finally how organizational psychology is used by different organizations.
    First, and foremost what is organization psychology.   Organizational psychology is the scientific study of individual and group behavior in formal organizational settings (Jex & Britt, 2008). With that said, each company is watching to see how their employees are performing in their everyday tasks. This also includes how they perform against a rival or competitive company. By studying how individuals perform in a variety of tasks, they are able to make changes. These companies put changes in place to make the work environment more pleasant or more productive with out as many outside distractions. It helps them to decide if putting their employees in groups or on individual tasking could be more affective.   It is all about productivity and if they can better understand their work force, they can make better decisions based upon facts.
    The role of research and statistics are critical to a company and its expansion. For example, organizational psychologists often use systematic research methods to provide organizational decision makers with information regarding employees’ attitudes (Jex & Britt, 2008). This gives insights that otherwise would have been missed and might have to lead to problems in the future. The information collected is very useful but is also very time consuming in the process of gathering and deciphering.
