Our Relationship With Others Makes Us Who We Are

Our Relationship With Others Makes Us Who We Are

People are whom they are depending on their relationship with the people around them. Cher, one of hem main characters in the movie “Clueless”, clearly proves this statement.
Cher begins her high school life with one of her best friends as a rich and immanent person. She goes along through the first part of the movie helping others in return for her own personal needs. That is in many scenes, when she hooks up two of her nerdy teachers for extra marks, and in giving Tai I new makeover to gain popularity from people at the school. Her father and friend were the main reason in making her such a person. Where everything was made available for her, even the marks. That is seen in one of the scenes when she is asked about her marks, and her father being happy knowing about it and about how she really scored those marks.
In the final scenes of the movies we notice the character becoming less immanent and more transcendent of a person. Opening up to others and helping because them because she feels it is the right thing to do. Most of this change was achieved from Josh’s authentical truth, him calling her a “mall girl”, and by the set downs she went through. Both these reasons made her realize that their was more to life and more to making her a happier person than just escaping to the mall to feel happy.
Cher’s experience in life has showed us how are relationships with others makes us who we are. The movie shows us how even the most immanent can change to become the most transcendent person. If we went back and imagined the movie without Josh, Cher would have still been the same girl where her only concern was attention, money, and the mall
