Men’s ministry in the Baptist Church has at its core the goal of empowering men by enabling them to develop and acquire skills that prepare them for God's mission.

The men of Woods are committed to the biblical principle that serving the needs of others is work that has been sanctioned by God. The men's ministry provides an environment where men are changed by the power of God’s Word. We believe that when God is lifted up from the earth, he “will draw all men to himself.” We understand that we are in a constant state of growth as we strive to meet the standards set by those who came before us—men like the Reverend Doctor Benjamin E. Mays, preacher, educator, and leader. Dr. Mays is credited with having said, “Not failure, but low aim is sin."
Dr. Mays spoke to the spiritual awakening of men as evidenced by their efforts to become active in the community and the church, as well as to become better financial stewards. A man of God, he envisioned men who promoted the discipleship of their children and who accepted responsibility for their households and became better fathers and husbands. Such men humble themselves in the service of the local church as they carry out God’s commandment to “go and make disciples of all nations.”

The kingdom of heaven is like the landowner who went out early in the morning to hire labor for his vineyard. He agreed to pay the laborers a denarius a day. When he returned to the marketplace three hours later, he saw others standing idle. The Bible states that he said to them, “go into the vineyard, and what ever is right I will give you.” These men had faith in God, and so they went without a negotiated wage for their labor. Their faith was justified.
We believe that the laborers demonstrated the characteristics that are consistent with those who followed God’s commandments to ”go and make disciples of all nations.” This is the mission of Woods Memorial Baptist Church, the motto of which is “Where...
