Introduction
Nutrition plays an important role in our everyday lives.   It can be responsible for prolonging or decreasing our lifespan.   One way nutrition is defined is the processes by which an organism assimilates food and uses it for growth and maintenance.   Having a balanced diet in our lives is the key to good nutrition and good health.   Following a well balanced diet is not always easy for many of us to achieve.   With so many of us living a busy life and working such long hours, it is often easier for people to just pick up something quick and fast rather, than taking the time to cook a healthy meal at home.   The only downfall to eating at fast food places is that they are high in fat and are lacking in nutrients that our bodies need.   They also affect our health.   On the opposite side of eating foods that are high in fat, today’s world also emphasizes that being fit means that we have to be thin, and that dieting is a part of good nutrition.   This theory is much too often misunderstood.   Many people, especially young girls, and older women develop different eating disorders that cause them to a plethora of health problems.   The messages that are being advertised by the media are very misleading and confusing.  
Eating a nutritious meal is not as difficult as many of us make it to be.   Good nutrition is basically eating a balanced diet.   This just means that we need to eat the correct amounts and the right kinds of foods on a daily basis.   Eating a variety of whole grains, fruits and vegetables and eating fewer foods that are high in fats and sugars can reduce our chances of developing health problems.   Drinking plenty of water while exposed to high heat, cold weather, or exercising regularly is also important.   Skipping meals is also not a good idea because it often causes us to eat more during other meals which can lead to weight gain.   By planning ahead and eating healthy snacks can be a good start to eating a nutritious meal.
