Introduction
Global Communications which relied upon vast hierarchical management structures and local labor force to conduct their core operations, have given way to modern practices to keep up with their competitors. By exploiting new ways to conduct business operations, GC is going beyond moving from urban and rural areas to overseas locations to increase productivity, performance, stock prices, and earnings. In the following analysis of GC, I will discuss the current issues, opportunities, different perspectives, ethical dilemmas, end-state vision, risk assessment, optimal solution, implementation plan, and evaluation of results.
Issue and Opportunity Identification
Ultimately, Global Communications is facing many issues which could drive the company out of business if it does not find a practical solution to implement. GC is currently facing strong competition from cable companies which recently joined the telecom van wagon with competitive deals in communication services. Consequently, GC is struggling to cut down production cost in order to offer better deals than its competitors and regain control of its market, which is gradually falling. The company sales are down and impacting net profit, as well as share price. Unfortunately, under these present conditions, the company has too many expenses to bear with. In addition to salaries and benefits of employees, another expense incurred by GC is office space. Historically, office building is an expensive corporate status symbol. Regardless if the corporation owns, leases, or rents the premises, a portion of corporate profits is required to maintain the facilities and equipment to support business operations. Another issue is that the company board of directors and share holders are putting too much pressure on GC by demanding an immediate solution to this problem.
