Problem Statement Kudler Fine Foods
Kudler Fine Foods is a gourmet food store established by Kathy Kudler.   Her decision to open a gourmet food store was based on her passion for gourmet foods.   Her local neighborhood lacked a variety of products to choose from.   Kathy did not have any experience in gourmet food but thought it would be profitable to have a one stop shop for customers with the same desire to purchase gourmet food locally.   Her vision is to offer locally grown organic foods and fine wine (Kudler 2003).   Kathy leased her first three stores consecutively.   The La Jolla store continues to grow while the Del Mar store has been having difficulty (Kudler 2003).   The third store is doing well located in Encinitas.   In the near future she will consolidate a fourth store in Carlsbad with the Del Mar location.   The Del Mar location did not do well due to limited potential customer population at that location.   Kathy is compelled to remain loyal to her employees and customers and to remain competitive in the gourmet field.   Many of the customers visit the store every eight to ten days.   Kathy work seven days a week, visit and works at each store sometime daily.   She has a manger and assistant manager for all three stores (Kudler 2003).   The author in the course textbook defines a mangers as a person that give direction to their organizations, provide leadership, and decide how to use organizational resources to accomplish goals Nickels, W., McHugh, J. McHugh, S. (2008).   The mangers at Kudler Fine Food have limited responsibilities.   Kathy feels obligated to handle all aspects of running each of the stores.   She makes all the purchases as the same time for all three stores.   Kathy’s goal is to expand and to continue to offer the high quality of food and customer service at all the locations.
