1. Introduction
Project Management Practice sits as the final coursework course prior to students
undertaking their study at Masters level or completing their Graduate Diploma. The
aim of the course is to draw together the knowledge and skills developed in the earlier
courses of the program in one integrated project. Students are provided with the
opportunity of taking the brief for a complex project and developing a project plan.
Students have overall responsibility for providing the organisation to undertake this
task. In the development of a project team, students will need to apply their
understanding of team work and leadership concepts. These and other activities in
preparing the project plan will include a degree of reflection throughout the process.
The process of reflection will be done using knowledge acquired both through the
program and from the students’ experiences with managing projects in industry. There
are some specific milestones through the project development as well as activities
undertaken as a group and individually.
At the completion of the course, you will have:
ï‚•ï€ Applied the PM knowledge areas to a project,
ï‚•ï€ Used information literacy skills to source applied project knowledge to develop
creative solutions to project challenges,
ï‚•ï€ Put in place and applied high-level communication skills by use of a variety of
communications media including the Learning Hub,
ï‚•ï€ Contributed to the formation of teams and participated in the team effort in
producing the project outcomes,
ï‚•ï€ Taken on, where appropriate, a leadership role within the project development,
ï‚•ï€ Apply international practice to develop project outcomes, and
ï‚•ï€ Where appropriate, incorporated suitably culturally sensitive approaches to project
solutions, and
ï‚•ï€ Have reflected on the lessons learnt in participating in the project.
