ABSTRACT
The Non-conventional are steadily increasing their footprint in India with an increase from 6,000 sq m of green space in 2003 to 304,800 sq m by the end of 2008. Today a variety of green building projects are coming up in almost all fields such as country-residential complexes, exhibition centers, hospitals, educational institutions, laboratories, IT parks, airports, government buildings and corporate offices. The evolution taking place in India does achieve remarkable overlook in this field world wide. Olympia Technology Park and ABN Amro bank have achieved gold ratings even in its first project rated under LEED for Commercial Interiors. ABN Amro Bank high efficient HVAC equipment and systems are installed to achieve optimum power. In the present study, an overview on the concept of GB, weather sensors, solar protection mechanism, thermal insulation, energy saving insulations paints, grey water, techniques used in treatment of grey water, UV protected glass, Aerocon hq building blocks, benefits, advantage and disadvantages of green building have been reported. Concept on LEED have been analyzed. Case study has been performed for Olympia Technology Park and ABN Amro bank. Results have also been discussed in detail.
1. INTRODUCTION
The buildings in which we live, work, and play protect us from nature's extremes. Yet they also affect our health and environment in countless ways. The design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal of buildings takes enormous amounts of energy, water, and materials, and generates large quantities of waste, air and water pollution.
