Prostitution: A Life of Degradation and Abuse

Prostitution: A Life of Degradation and Abuse
I am a prostitute.   Every day, I regret this decision.   I have no family to take care of at home, minimum wage cannot suffice regardless.   Therefore, this seemed like a great idea at the time.   Men always want sex right?   It does not matter when, where, or how.   It seemed too good to be true.   All I would have to do is swallow my pride a handful of times a day, and I would be making more money than I would know what to do with.   Little did I know what hell this life would actually put me through.   Noon to about 5AM, the hours leave me exhausted, but I never get a day off.   My pimp will not allow a day off; for every single minute we waste costs him money.   Tricks come at all hours of the day, and if we miss out, my pimp misses out.   And if he misses out, I get punished.   Every single infraction, every single misstep, he always ties everything back to money.   That’s what everything, even my own life, revolves around…his money.   Therefore, I cannot make a single mistake, or I get beaten.   God Almighty, how I want to get back at that heartless bastard.   I am not an animal, but he treats me like one, yells at me like one, beats me like one.   He forces me to throw my body around like I have no self respect.   I have had stitches, teeth knocked out, and bruises all over my body for trying to stand up for myself.   But I guess this is what one calls a “Catch-22.”   Going to the police is not an option.   What I do is illegal to begin with.   Plus, if my pimp found out I went to the police, he would surely kill me.   If the police would offer protection, and perhaps forgiveness, I would hand my pimp over in no time.   I would tell them everything, where he eats, where he sleeps, all the girls in his stable, who his friends are.   He would be in the slammer for good.   No more beating, no more degrading days spent on the corner to make him money.   Indeed, a police amnesty, with agreement to prosecute, provides a viable option...
