Final Project (Race and Your Community)
I currently reside mostly all of my life in the City of Milledgeville, Georgia.   The city of Milledgeville and its history on its district is the most historical city in the State of Georgia. Milledgeville’s historical factors and largest mental hospital (Central State Hospital) in the world has made the district of the city the most natural place of refuge for tourist around the globe. My hometown of Milledgeville tourist attractions and history is based on a high sense of diversity which consists of a mixture of Black Americans, Caucasians, Asian, Hispanic, and Indian, which all make up a population of 18,757 people, according to the 2000 census. As an African American in Milledgeville, Georgia, I consider my race very well represented, and very well respected amongst the mixed diversity of race in our community.
There is an average of 9,586 of African American in the city of Milledgeville, which makes up 46.2% of the population, an average of 10,410 of White Americans which makes up 50.2 % of the population, 421 Hispanics, that makes up 2.0 %, and 218 of Asian Americans, that makes up 1.1% of the population.   Two or more other races, which consist of Indian is 87, which makes up 0.4% of the population. 16 are American alone, which makes up about 0.08% of the population of Milledgeville. Based on the percentage of different races in the city of Milledgeville, where I am from, I see a lot of different faces that look like mine on a daily basis.   A lot of African American people in my community have different skin complexion.   There are a lot of people that are a little darker than me, but you do find some that have fair skin such as mine, or even lighter, but the majority of...
