Introduction
Karl Marx’s theory is based on the notion of capitalism whereby those who control the means of production exploit the workers. Moreover he based his analysis of capitalism on his version of the labour theory of value and includes the analysis of capitalist profit as the extraction of surplus value from the exploited proletariat.
Marx would argue that machinery was becoming imperative in the development of society in regards to the advancements in the technical labour force.  
Marx’s analysis of history and economics came together in Marx's prediction of the inevitable breakdown of capitalism; however this notion can be disputed.

Modernity is term which describes the development of society which was triggered of by   industrialisation , as a result there was a   shift in the labour structure which was before based on agriculture consequently modernity brought forward a new structure in the labour market

Pre-modern societies were based on unified routine work there was no essence of inequalities because labour was communal there was a shared consensus moreover pre-modern society was largely based on religion i.e. the world view was based on Religious Epistemology.
What catapulted change in society was Martin Luther’s view on Christianity in terms of worship; whereby people could worship God by themselves creating the theme known as individualism. This central theme of community was changed by the notion of religion.

Britain was one of the first countries to transform from a agricultural workforce to a country which became equipped with machines which became part of the labour force, the country was becoming industrialised in addition this created divisions in the labour force people now were allocated to different jobs roles:
