Religous Philosoher Quotations

Eastern Religious Philosopher Quotations Checkpoint

The four philosophers that I have chosen to pick quotes from are Siddhartha Guatama, Lao Tzu, Chang Tzu, and Confucious.   The first philosopher is Siddhartha Guatama, who was all about peace and enlightenment which he usually did through meditation (Moore & Bruder, 2008).   The quote that I have chosen for this philosopher is “Those who are free of resentful thoughts surely find peace” (Brainy Media, 2010).   I have chosen this quote because I best think that it suits Siddhartha because to me his teachings were about dealing with suffering and striving for enlightenment.   This quote in my opinion really portraits what he was teachings.   If people find peace within themselves, then maybe they would be on the way to enlightenment as Siddhartha so believed in.

The next philosopher I have chosen is Lao Tzu, who believed that enduring change is brought about by weakness, not strength, by submission, not be intervention and that violence is a last resort and can be avoided by anticipation be reconciling potential enemies (Moore & Bruder, 2008).   That is why I have chosen the quote “Kindness in words creates confidence.   Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love” (Famous quotes and Authors, 2010).   I think this best describes Lao Tzu because he believed in kindness and believed that confrontation can be avoided and with that comes kindness.

The third philosopher I have chosen is Chang Tzu, who believed that the world has its own wisdom and that nature cannot be forced or hurried, because nature unfolds according to the Tao (Moore & Bruder, 2008).   I have picked a quote that Tzu wrote and it states “Flow with whatever may happen and let your mind be free. Stay centered by accepting whatever you are doing. This is the ultimate” (Famous quotes and Authors, 2010).   I think this quote best suits Tzu because he believed the world has its own wisdom and the quote says that...
