There are several differences between watching a rental dvd at home and watching a movie at your local theater. The most evident of these differences are the price between them. The price of renting a movie is significantly less than that of going to the theater. On average, the price of going to the theater ranges from six to fourteen dollars, just for admission, and you can find a new release at the movie store for around four dollars for three days. Although you can see the same movie in both places, the atmosphere of the theater usually makes it worth spending the extra money, and you get to see it before it comes out in your local rental place.
In defense of sitting at home and watching the movie, you can do whatever you want to. It’s your house you can watch it naked on your couch if you want. You don’t have to sit in those crappy theater seats with arm rests in the middle of every seat. Some theater seats are nice, say if you go to the imax, but you will pay for them. On the other hand you can sit at home on your nice comfy sofa, your favorite chair, or even curled up on the floor with your loved one under a blanket. What ever your price range think of your comfort leval first, and how much is it worth to see that movie?
Now if you are like me and a broke college student you my chose to rent before ever going to the theater, just based on price alone. There are positives and negatives to this choice. If you are poor, like me, your television set is probably older than you are. Granted it still works good but the picture is just not up to par with how they make movies today. With all those new formats who can keep up? Also the fact that they come up with the next best television every 2 weeks! If you’re like me, to watch a movie on something bigger than a 19 screen is a treat. At the theaters their screens range from 80 feet tall and up to 4 stories tall, depending on where you live. So also keep in mind screen size when deciding for your next movie....
