With a variety of problems plaguing Kudler Fine Foods, one of the biggest problems that Kathy Kudler faces is the safety of her employees.   If she continues to have numerous accidents within her company involving her employees, she is setting herself up for a myriad of legal issues.  
The problem statement developed is Kudler Fine Foods desires to create a safe working environment for their employees by increasing the company’s Occupational Health and Safety Administration compliance.   Some employees may not fully read the handbook and may not know they feel unsafe and can communicate with their managers about safe working conditions.   It states in their handbook that Kudler Fine Foods believes the work conditions are similar in the area and industry and if the employee is concerned about work conditions he or she is encouraged   to tell their supervisor or the store manager.   Because of repeated accidents at the La Jolla store, it is evident that the employees are not communicating about safety.   By providing a safe work environment and increasing the training provided to employees, Kudler Fine Foods can live up to and fulfill their motto.   In the business motto it specifically states “Our selections, coupled with our experienced, helpful and knowledgeable staff, merge to offer each customer a delightful and pleasing shopping outing” (Apollo Group, Inc., 2008).   To maintain the experienced, helpful and knowledgeable staff the company in essence has to protect the employees from themselves.  
This “protection” relies upon Kudler Fine Foods implementing a training and incentive program.   This training and incentive program should decrease absenteeism because of injuries and also decrease the amount of worker’s compensation claims, thus decreasing the amount of legal responsibility and increasing employee productivity and providing the customer service the company is looking for.
