Schindler’s List
The times of World War II and the Holocaust were very brutal times in Europe.   The events displayed in the movie Schindler’s List are absolutely horrifying. Steven Spielberg did a phenomenal job with the creation of this film. The way he depicted the events that unfolded in the ghettos of Krakow, seemed so real. The way Oskar Schindler lived his life really did make for an exceptional biographical movie.
One of the geniuses of this movie is the fact it was done in black and white. The effect of black and white has, as opposed to color film, can convey a grim and sorrowful felling inside your gut. The beginning and the end both being in color had also added power to the film.   The scenes with the little girl in the red coat were really powerful. The way it had an effect on Schindler when he saw her walking through the streets trying to hid, and then his reaction when he saw her being carried out on a wheel cart along with several other deceased refugees was horrendous. The documentary style camera work made this film look very real.   It makes the audience fell like were actually witnessing it as it all happened. Spielberg also did a great job in conveying the sadness and the hopelessness of the concentration camps.
This movie showed a man who is revered as a saint among the Jewish community in Poland, and throughout the world. He started out from some very dishonorable beginnings. He drank heavily, he cheated on his wife on several occasions, he was a heavy gambler, but was very wealthy. He knew, and bribed, the right people to be a very well known, highly feared, member of the Nazi party. The way he befriended a member of the Jewish Council, Itzhak Stern, and made him his second in command, really showed that he personally had no contempt for the Jewish “race”. Schindler wanted to run a business that would make a lot of money, and keep his good standing with the Nazi Party, so he opened a factory that would make items vital for the war, and...
