Abstract
This paper will encompass the security within the areas of intake procedures, custody classification of inmates, physical security, accountability of the inmates, and controlling contraband within Major City Correctional Facility.
Introduction
Major City Correctional Facility (MCCF) is a brand new private facility in the Mojave Desert of California. It was built to house medium security inmates. MCCF has been contracted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to house low custody inmates that will be serving time for illegal reentry; most are Mexican nationals that speak little English.
Security systems need to be established and the staff will be educated on a need to know basis. Staff will be empowered with information as needed to conduct their job in a safe and protective environment.
Staff members have come from both federal and state facilities, private or not-for-profit facilities, and from different levels of security. This will be a learning experience for everyone and all details will be accessible to staff for further educational knowledge. There will be training for all staff members on a routine basis; to ensure our facility is always abreast of the newest and best technology and information to keep this facility as safe and secure as possible. Accommodations for all vital information will be made available to all staff specific to their necessity of knowledge of information; specific, due to security of the facility, staff, inmates, and the public community.
As MCCF grows, there will be adjustments and implementation of programs, policies, rules and regulations on the security of the facility.
