Speaking out

The words filled the room as water filled the homes in Saint Louis during Hurricane Katrina.   As Darrell read his poem in class I began to visualize the problems he spoke about.   There are several issues that Americans encounter but none more severe than governmental issues. Well what is considered a Governmental Issue I asked myself trying to follow his footsteps as he read his inner most thoughts aloud, health, school, war and protection are all government issues.
The major issue the world, not only the United States deal with is poverty.   A lot of people today are living in poverty. The worse case scenarios take place in low budget areas, lose of health care, hygiene and pride are the most important things and the most important things to be left in the wind.   The government does not try to help the citizens just as Darrell said in his poem, “ It’s real shady they making us slaves, giving us guns and making us dig our own graves.”
              I liked his poem because it not only expressed his views and thoughts but actual events in the world that we live in today.   We spend our money here, raise our kids here and yet we are still short of the necessities to survive as we lie in our homes, and find our selves in a comfort zone.
              Many people fail to realize the issues that involve us everyday. As usual war is also a problem and as we all know war is happening as we speak. According to Darrell he is trying to figure out this issue of war by saying, “ Why is Bush still president if he messup so much, forget the beef we just need to fuss.”   All over the world people are fighting and harming each other over no reason. This need to stop because too many people have been harmed in more ways than you could imagine. Deaths, injuries and broken hearts have all taken place from this powerful three letter word. WAR.
