Strategic Plan, Part 1: Conceptualizing a Business
The decision to establish a new business and becoming a new business owner can be a very stressful experience.   A business owner with a clear vision, mission, and values has a better chance of building a successful organization.   According to Pearce and Robinson (2009), strategic management is a set of actions and decisions that result in the implementation and formulation of plans designed to achieve a company’s objectives. The business owner must have a well thought out plan and have the resources to execute the plan.   The Moore Business website (2007) states that a business vision is to accept responsibility for the decisions one makes and take control of one’s business. The vision states where the company aspires to be presently and in the future.   The mission relays to customers, present and future, what the purpose of the business is and the product or service the company provides.   The values express how the owner will operate the business.   This paper will describe the vision, mission, and values of Lulu’s Cakery.  
Mission
The owner of Lulu’s Cakery began designing and creating custom cakes for family members in 2002.   As word of mouth spread, the owner was approached on a regular basis to design and create cakes and the decision was made to open a retail business in spring of 2012.   Lulu’s Cakery will offer a variety of cake flavors, filling flavors, and icing flavors to accompany the custom designed cakes. The company mission is to provide customers with high quality baked goods, using premium first grade ingredients.   Lulu’s will do whatever it needs to guarantee customer satisfaction.   The owner’s plan involves creating a fun, creative, and diverse environment that delivers high quality service.
