The supply chain is vital to a company and it includes more than just the suppliers from which raw materials are purchased.   “The central idea of supply chain management is to apply a total system approach to managing the flow of information, materials, and services from raw material suppliers through factories and warehouses to the end customer” (Chase, et al, 2005, pg. 18).   Effective management of the supply chain increases a company’s efficiency and profitability.
Kuiper Leda, Inc. (Kuiper) is a leading manufacturer of electronic components.   Kuiper specializes in the production of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and sensors for the automotive industry.   Its clients include automobile manufacturers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for the automotive industry.   Kuiper has recently entered into the Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) Tags and the new production line has been in operation for six months.
