Although I have never been homeless, my heart goes out to those who can not make it in today’s society. It includes educated individuals, families, runaway teens, and abandoned parents, victims of domestic violence or divorce, and people who simply do not have enough income to live. Others are homeless due to addiction that forces them to live on the streets. I believe that hardworking people should be able to afford housing as well as groceries, and other basic necessities. Children deserve an opportunity to succeed to both school and life which goes in with having a stable home. I have always wanted to make a difference, for the homeless. And that does not mean just supplying them with money, no what it means that I will help them find shelter, job opportunities, maybe even support groups.
I also want them to find trust within their families again, so that they can have support within their families and friends. Trust is key ingredient to re establishing an individual. I would like to be able to establish more shelters, or maybe fixing a few of these run down apartments and turning them into shelters for those who are living on the streets. That way they will have a place to go, any time they want. And while they are there, sign them up for different job opportunities. Hopefully, the shelter will have donated clothes so that just in case they have an interview they will be ready to go. As I continue to grow in the human service field one of my goals is to minimize homelessness in the Bay Area. There are many opportunities out there and all I have to do is uncover them, and help others find them. Such as education, many people that are homeless have not been able to update themselves on current business. If we were to offer different types of business classes for them, it will help them stay a float in the world.
