Taking a Position
The key issue in this comic strip is that of an error in the payroll system. Some of the employees are taking advantage of the flaw and being dishonest. For example, Tanya raising her salary by $600 and doing it with the impression Human Resources is none the wiser.
Anita suspends judgment to think about what she should do. However, Anita does not think that taking advantage of the error sounds right, thus taking her final decision to notify HR. Anita went off her moral judgment when taking this position.
She had not known of the error until her friend discusses it with her. A decision was made to notify the HR department due to the positions that Anita and Tanya in the office.
The issue I noticed is that an employee was accessing the payroll system to increase their pay. The employee tried to encourage another fellow employee to do the same because the company makes enough money and that the HR office would not notice.
My judgment on this issue was almost immediate when Tanya explained that another employee had done the same thing. The reaction was about the same as Anita’s’ reaction when she had heard about the situation.
I went off my moral judgment and immediately thought it was stealing. I had made the decision that HR should be notified about the situation. If everyone that had access to their payroll did the same thing, then the company would probably get hurt financially and eventually go bankrupt.
