The Boondocks Helpfulness
Ok so it’s the year to vote, and this year could change history forever. Scratch that, it has already changed history. When you think of all the events this year you have to stop and think what am I? People this year are having to answer this question more and more. The fact is your going to be labeled before this is all over your either Anti-Democratic of Anti-Republican. There are certain stipulations to what makes you either one of these things besides how you vote. Most of the defining aspects are relatively simple to classify either your for change or not, either you are pro-life or you aren’t. Left side or right there is nothing in between this time around. To demonstrate this I’m going to attempt to show you how one side of this particular looks at certain events that have taken place over the past couple years and what they believe.
The cultural artifact that I chose was the late night TV show “The Boondocks“. The Boondocks to me falls into the Anti-Republican and Pro-Black category. I don’t know how anyone would argue with these categories. I think they would place them in simpler categories because most just see it as a trash talking cartoon, because they cuss, argue, fight, shoot and use the “N†word. You have to watch it and listen to it closely to see the underlying reason behind what they are doing. The reason I chose this is because me, being a teenager of African American descent, I can relate to many things that happen in the TV show. Not to mention that this show is realistic but tends to stretch the truth telling stories from their perspective.
The main characters definitely have skewered variations of their perspective. On one instances you have Grandpa Freeman who has gone through everything from being a black pilot in WWII, to supposedly marching with Dr. King and being there right by Rosa Parks on the bus and him getting over-looked and not getting any credit.
