In the world today there are many different kinds of music genres. For example, there is country, scream, punk, indie, and many others. But the one that gets the most controversy and full of different people is rap and hip hop. In the culture of main stream rap they like to rap about woman, guns, drugs, their egos, and money. They lose focus of how much influence they have over there audience and what is going on in the real world. There is one rapper that is continuing to defy the odds and rap about important subjects in the world. Sage Francis is important to the music world because he talks about real issues like 9/11, technology, the economy, and many other things unlike Lil Wayne, The Game,   and   Lil Boosie .
    The main stream rap and hip hop culture is dominated by gangsters and gang affiliated people. An example of this is a rapper called The Game. He is an outspoken Crip that talks about selling drugs and doing other criminal activity. There are many others that have gang affiliations like Lil Wayne who is also part of the Crip gang. Also with Lil Boosie, part of the bloods can cause tension between rappers and lead to violence.   With more and more kids looking up to these rap artists and wanting to be like them, they start to do what these so called gang rappers do in there lyrics. With many main stream rappers affiliated gang members, Sage Francis has never been tangled up with gangs or any possess in the rap world. His whole life he has tried to stay away from the gang scene and stay in school and get good grades. Since he grew up in a suburb in Rhode Island there weren’t too many people to talk to and become friends with. He was an only child and led a conservative and lonely life but he did have very supportive parents that wanted him to succeed. Kids should look up to Sage as an inspiration to do good in life, unlike what rappers like Lil Wayne preach in there lyrics.
