Join NowThe Struggle and Conflicts of One Boy The Power of One is a biography type of movie that was released in 1992. The opening scene is our main character P.K. being born in his house in Africa. In the scene, his mother's midwife is delivering P.K. There were many different characters in The Power of One. Two of them were well played, the main character Peter Phillip Kenneth Keith (P.K.) and Jaapie Botha. P.K. is the protagonist and Jaapie is the antagonist of the story. As a child at the Afrikaner school P.K. was a young but determined English boy. He had blonde hair and a skinny body. Jaapie was a slightly older boy of about thirteen years old. He was a well-built boy with short blonde hair. Jaapie, in school and in later life, always harassed P.K. Later in life when Jaapie meets up with P.K., Jaapie who was a police officer harasses him. P.K. was the main character of the story and was always struggling against the Afrikaners like Jaapie. After P.K.’s tormenting at the school, he went to the care of his grandfather’s friend “Doc†where he learned to play the piano and plant cacti. Doc was sent to prison for not registering as a foreigner. P.K. continued to receive his education at the prison. A man named Geel Piet taught P.K. how to box. P.K. also was the “Rainmaker†to the men in jail. The Rainmaker was a myth started by Geel Piet to lighten the spirits of the prisoners. P.K. then went to an English private school where he still boxed. While at the school P.K. did many great things for the native people such as teaching them how to read and write. Jaapie was the villain of the story who harassed P.K. He led a group of boys that did things like urinating on him and purposely making him feel horrible as a human being. He also led a group of boys who killed P.K.’s chicken and tried to even kill P.K. himself. Jaapie was caught by a teacher and became a laughing stock.
