One of the most original offerings of the films of the early 90’s was Thelma & Louise by director Ridley Scott of   Blade runner and Gladiator starring Academic Award Winner Susan Sarandon as Louise and Geena Davis as Thelma.

The story takes us to Arkansas where Thelma and Louise, two working-class friends who have planned a weekend getaway together from the men in their lives. The film follows the women as they head out for a two-day vacation of fishing in the mountains that quickly becomes a nightmare but which sees them change from victims of circumstance into outlaw heroines of the road.   Thelma is a passive, thirty old year’s housewife, married to a controlling and misogynist husband, Darryl. Louise is unmarried waitress who appears organized and strong, with some unnamed trauma in her past.
The trip start at a roadside bar, Thelma meets a man, Harlan, with whom she dances. She gets drunk and the man attempts to rape her in the parking lot. Louise finds them and threatens to shoot Harlan if he doesn't stop. Harlan stops, but then defiantly tells Louise that they were "just having a little fun." At that, Louise shoots and kills him. Thelma wants to go to the police right away, but Louise is worried that no one will believe their story because Thelma was drunk and had been dancing with Harlan. Afraid that the authorities will not believe their story, Louise decides to run away, and Thelma follows.
Louise is determined to reach Mexico and the fastest route to it leads through Texas. But she doesn’t want to cross through this states and it is revealed that something bad happened to her in Texas years ago, though she refuses to say exactly what it was. They flee west, and on the way meet a handsome young man, J.D., whom Thelma immediately likes. She convinces Louise to let him hitch a ride with them for a bit. Meanwhile Louise, contacts her boyfriend, Jimmy, and asks him to send her the life-savings she has in the bank. But when...
