Thomas Kinkade is a husband, father, and a painter of God’s work. Kinkade is known as “The Painter of Light†because of all the light he uses in his paintings. Kinkade has painted so many lighthouses, bridges, and many other beautiful scenes to give hope for others. Kinkade has also worked with Disney to show some of the beautiful work from movies that will impact us for years to come.
“The Painter of Light†says “[m]y mission as an artist is to create glimpses of a world that are tranquil, peaceful, and full of the beauty of God’s creationâ€. (Kinkade, 2007) Kinkade is very wonderful at showing the beauties of the Earth. Thomas has made it his mission to spread hope through the light, and spread faith through his examples of tranquility. Kinkade wants everyone to remember him for his hope that he spread, not just the colors he puts on canvas.
Nurture had the largest impact on Kinkade, because his faith in God is what drives him. Kinkade says he “often thinks of the spirituality of lightâ€. (Hopeway, 2002) Kinkade wants others to see his faith through the paintings he feels God wants him to paint. Showing the simple beauty, while the word of the Bible drives him, is his passion in life. Kinkade relies on his faith in God for his paintings. One of his paintings I really enjoy, and gives hope to anyone with or without religion, is “Bridge of Hopeâ€. “The Bridge of Hope is as stable as the massive granite flagstones that form its arch and will stand for as long as the quicksilver brook rolls down from the hills beneath it. A magnificent white dogwood, symbol of the purity of God’s grace, shades the bridge. Its over-arching boughs remind us that, while we stand on the BRIDGE OF HOPE, we are enshrouded by the loving embrace of our creatorâ€. (Kinkade, 2009)
