Mature industries have passed through both the emerging and growth stages. While earnings may be stable growth prospects are few. I believe that Wal-Mart is in the mature stage of their lifecycle.
In order to maintain their industry competition Wal-Mart in the past few years has updated the appearance of their stores to a more updated look and also changed their slogan from “Always Low Prices, Always†to “Save Money Live Betterâ€. While in the mature stage Wal-mart has already established their name and people automatically know what your talking about when you mention their name so one of the ways to keep up their competition level up is to better the services they already have.
Wal-Mart had definitely been one of the most successful businesses in the world. I believe as long as they stick with their low price strategy and helping other save money and live better lives then I believe that their competitive advantage will continue to go strong. Target is one of Wal-Marts major competitors Target is looked at as a little higher class than Wal-Mart and carries product with more style. In order to ensure that they will continue to win the competition against target I think they should try to improve their image. Target gets designers to make lines just for them if Wal-Mart could get some big name designers to that for them maybe people perspectives of them would change.
I believe Wal-Mart will continue to maintain competitive advantage over other retail stores if they continue with their strategy they already have with some updated improvements.
